Demilec (USA) and the American Institute of Architects: Partners in Continuing Education Demilec (USA) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) work closely to ensure that architects stay current on the benefits of, and professional applications for, spray foam insulation.
As a registered provider of professional training for architects under American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (AIA/CES), Demilec (USA) hosts courses that provide updated information and important insights into the impact of spray foam insulation on building performance and environmental protection.
In addition to the thermal performance of spray foam insulation, the course includes a wide-ranging look at a variety of factors that architects should consider when designing their buildings. These factors include semi-rigid foam technologies in various areas of the building construction. Usage and design with spray foam insulation for the different North American climatic zones in large commercial and residential construction will be integrated. The basic building sciences of residential construction regarding air infiltration, water vapor permeance, and proper HVAC sizing will be discussed. Concerns regarding indoor air quality and proliferation of molds and mildews will also be presented.
• Moisture Control • Indoor Air Quality • Sound Attenuation • Overall Comfort • Climate Control • Appropriateness of rigid and semi-rigid spray foam technologies in different parts of the structure • Adapting rigid and semi-rigid spray foam insulation for use in different North American climate zones • Performance qualities of spray foam insulation on air infiltration and water vapor permeance • Proper HVAC sizing
